The Great Migration Train 2019

This incredible fully guided 29 night Safari takes you on a journey that will invoke visions of a bygone era.

You start with a four night food and wine indulgence in the Mother City.  Cape Town was established to replenish ships with provisions on their voyages between Europe and the Indian ocean.  The benign climate produced a marvelous array of fruit, vegetables and livestock.  More than 350 years later, you get toexplore today'sworld class produce of the Western Cape through some of the best restaurants and wineries in the world.

And then we take the train.  Rovos Rail transports you back to a time of luxurious travel to extraordinary places.  For fifteen days your train will take you through South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Tanzania. On most days you will enjoy excursions to visit some of the most fascinating experiences those countries have to offer.  One of those highlights will be a two night stay at the Tau Game Lodge in the Madikwe Game Reserve.  You will also spend a night at the grand old dame of African tourism, The Victoria Falls Hotel.

After you reluctantly say goodbye to your train in Dar Es Salaam, you will overnight in an exquisite hotel in Dar Es Salaam and then be taken to the Ngorongoro Crater.  This extinct volcano is home to some of the best game viewing experiences in Africa and you will stay in a grand lodge that will remind you of architecture you saw in Cape Town four week earlier.  The Manor at Ngorongoro is surrounded by a working coffee plantation and during your stay the game drives in the crater will be balanced with a tour of the coffee plantation.

And then we move to the Serengeti.  The Great Migration moves to a schedule that is determined by rain and fire.  The vagaries of weather and climate change mean that it is impossible to predict where the herds will be on a certain date.  So we have chosen two camps in different locations that have awesome game viewing opportunities year round as well as being in the path of the Great Migration.

This is a truly extraordinary experience.
